• Poppy is a young woman an is extremely open-minded with everything and won't let anything upset her "You keep on rowin', and I'll keep on smilin'"....
  for example - when her bicycle is stolen her first thought is "I didn't get a chance to say goodbye."
  
• Scott is the complete opposite, he is slightly older and very narrow minded...
  for example - Scott is offended when Poppy says she loves Zoe, her female flatmate "what do you mean you love her?" he cannot accept homosexuality.
  
• Scott thinks that all teenagers are "stinky"
• Zoe says that she takes a dance class with children and she says "half the kids are bigger than her, not taller wider".. this shows the problem children are having with obestity

• Poppy is a primary school teacher and asked her pupils what they did on the very sunny weekend and all of the children had stayed inside and played video games and none of them had been playing outside
• Poppy's attitude towards living in a multi-cultural society is very contemporary and accepting, whereas Scott is the complete opposite and shouts at Poppy to "lock the car doors" when two black teenagers cycle past the car
• Tea is still a frequent prop in this modern film but Poppy's attitude towards is quite different to others a she believes you shouldn't always have a cup of tea when your working as a teacher as you should be pro-active.
• When a pupil of Poppy's is being a bully he is spoken to by a social worker. In the past this bully would have just been told off and not given help
