REPRESENTATION IN PASSPORT TO PIMLICO AND TH BELLES OF ST TRINIANS

Both films shows elements of representation of Britan, Britishness, age, gender and education. Of course there is variance between the two films and the first comparison is that Passport to Pimlico signifies the more dynamic representation of Brtain and Britishness as St Trinians only divulges a very small fragment of British society. It is therefore harder to identify the elements of representaton.
Firstly, a basic indication that Passport to Pimlico represent Britishness is directed through the cinematography. It is evident that the first scene of the film is shown in the fish shop-a common stereotype that in a sens symbolizes Britain's culture. There is a strong collective identity in the film, as when their land becomes 'Burgundy' there is a strong sense of collectiveness reinforced by the peoples shared desire to pull together.
